We are a family that loves movies and TV shows. Each week I’ll share what we watched and what we thought about them. I hope it will give you good insight and even some ideas if you’re stuck finding something new.
1. Migration. This is such a great family friendly movie. It’s available to rent on Prime and we really enjoyed it. It’s about a duck family that has never left the safe haven of their pond due their overprotective husband/father, Mack who is afraid of everything–including adventure. But his wife and kids long to migrate like other families and see the world. He finally works up the courage to take his family out and they learn that adventures include a lot of fun as well as hardships. It’s rated PG.
2. Resident Alien. Super Rockstar and I have been streaming this rather weird, intriguing show on Netflix. It’s about an alien who has crash landed on earth in the small, sleepy town of Patience, Colorado. His mission was to destroy all of humanity, but he has lost his device that would accomplish this. He adapts to a human form and in his search for his device, he befriends and becomes a part of their quirky community. We got drawn in more and more as the story has unraveled. There are 2 seasons to stream on Netflix and the 3rd season is available on the SYFY network. It’s rated TV-MA.
3. The King’s Man. My older son, Morgan, is fascinated by all things WWI and WWII. He had been interested in seeing this movie because of the references to WWI and it features Rasputin–the quirky, mystic adviser that the Russian monarchy relied upon. This is a prequal movie and has to do with the Kingsmen beginnings. Super Rockstar and I have loved all the Kingsmen movies and even though this one was rated R–in looking at the parent guide–the violence, foul language, and adult content wasn’t as bad as some PG-13 movies we have allowed the boys to watch. The main scene with the Rasputin character is very cringy, but otherwise they really enjoyed it (you can read the parent guide here).
I would love to hear your opinions and any suggestions you may have of what to watch.
