The Ingredients.
Fry the wings. Okay. Here’s the deal–if you are frying them in oil, just heat the oil up, place the wings in (pro tip: use tongs or something so you don’t burn your fingers), turn them over and continue frying until golden brown.
HOWEVER. If you happen to have an air fryer (which I do), then you want to place the wings in a large zip lock bag, add about 1/4 cup of olive oil and about a teaspoon of salt. Zip it up and shake it up and then place the wings in the air fryer. For mine–it recommends 15 minutes at 325 degrees, turn them over and then do another 10 minutes at 350 degrees. Either way the goal is to have golden crispy wings when all is said and done.
Make the sauce. While your wings are cooking you can make the sauce. Melt the butter in a sauce pan and then add the Franks Hot Sauce (and Tabasco if using). Mix it well and allow to simmer for about 5-10 minutes.
Dip the Wings in the Sauce. When the wings are ready and the sauce is ready, you are ready to dip the wings. Just make sure they get a good coating. Now then–if you like saucy wings where the sauce gets all over your hands and face and you have to use a whole roll of paper towels just to eat a couple wings–then you are finished. Enjoy your wings to your messy hearts content. BUT, if you’re like me and don’t necessarily like a saucy wing–you’ll want to follow the next step.
Bake the Wings. Place the wings on a shallow baking pan. Bake at 425 degrees for about 10-15 minutes. This not only make the wings less messy, it also adheres the sauce to the wings and makes them a lot tastier.
Enjoy. Dip them in Ranch or Bleu Cheese dressing and make sure you get all the flats (this is what my boys call the less leggy looking side of the wing). For some reason, they think those are particularly special.
It’s always a race to grab as many as possible before they’re all gone. They are delicious and the perfect food to eat while watching the Cowboys lose. Again.
