Sometimes, a simple and easy dinner is all you need. Chopped steak definitely fits that category. It’s so easy that it barely needs a recipe, but if you’re anything like me–spelled out instructions are best.
- 1 lb ground beef
- Worcestershire to taste
- Salt and Pepper
- Brown Gravy Mix
- 1 Cup Sliced Mushrooms
- Season meat with Worcestershire, salt and pepper.
- Divide into four patties and cook in a large skillet until browned and cooked through..
- Remove patties from skillet.
- Make gravy according to package instructions.
- Add Mushrooms to gravy and heat until soft.
- Place ground beef patties back in skillet with gravy and simmer on low heat for 5 minutes.
Ingredients.
Season the meat. Add a few dashes of Worcestershire (is anyone really all that confident in how to pronounce this?) and salt and pepper to taste. Mix it well with your hands. (I know–it’s yucky).
Divide into 4 patties and cook in a large skillet. Heat up the skillet to high and cook them for about 2 minutes, flip them over, reduce the heat to low and cover. This allows them to cook through and remain nice and juicy (or greasy depending on the fat content of your beef).
Remove from skillet and make gravy. Just follow the package directions. If you’re feeling SUPER creative, you can make your own. This was not that kind of day for me.
Add sliced mushrooms to the gravy and heat until softened. If you don’t like mushrooms, skip this step.
Place the patties back into the gravy mix and simmer on low heat for 5 minutes. Make sure the patties get coated on both sides with the gravy.
Enjoy. Put them on plates and pour the gravy over them. These are great served with mashed potatoes. And spinach–since you need something green today for St. Patrick’s Day.
