We are a family that loves movies and TV shows. Each week I’ll share what we watched and what we thought about them. I hope it will give you good insight and even some ideas if you’re stuck finding something new.
1. Miracle Workers. Super Rockstar and I found a new to us show to watch. There are 3 seasons so far to enjoy. There are so many notable actors including Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter) and Steve Buscemi. I’m not sure how to classify this show other than it reminds me a lot of Monte Python movies. Each season is a different theme–the first one was of heaven and Steve Buscemi plays God, the second one is the Dark Ages–mostly the same main actors, but a completely different story, and this 3rd season is called The Oregon Trail. The episodes are only about 20 minutes and are pretty funny. We’ve enjoyed it so far. It’s rated TV-14. Just Super Rockstar and I are watching it–I’m not sure I think it’s something I want my kids to watch just yet.
2. Diary of a Wimpy Kid. My younger son, Grayson, has recently gotten into reading. Like REAL books. I just knew God wouldn’t abandon me as being the only reader in my family. Haha! He has really enjoyed the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series and he and his brother have seen a couple of the movies. I thought it would be fun to see them as a family. The first one is pretty funny. It’s all about a kid starting middle school. He has an older brother who torments him and a baby brother that annoys him. His whole goal in life is to be considered a cool kid. I don’t know if the PG rating is as accurate as you want it to be for kids. Some of the humor is more for older kids. There’s nothing inappropriate, but they do use the word “moron” a couple of times. I thought it was a fun movie (you can read the parent info here)
3. Robin Hood. I love me a good Robin Hood movie and this is one I couldn’t believe I hadn’t seen. It’s from 2010 and Russell Crowe plays Robin Hood (or Robin Longstride as it were). There’s a lot of notable actors and I really loved the story. It’s kind of like a prequal to the regular Robin Hood tail. It’s rated PG-13 and has some adult situations that I don’t think are appropriate for kids (you can read the parent info here). I really enjoyed it.
I would love to hear your opinions and any suggestions you may have of what to watch.
