We are a family that loves movies and TV shows. Each week I’ll share what we watched and what we thought about them. I hope it will give you good insight and even some ideas if you’re stuck finding something new.
1. The Mystery of a Hansom Cab. I love mysteries and this one was very well done. It’s early 19th century and a man is found murdered in a hansom cab. It leads to all sorts of mystery and intrigue as the truth is finally revealed. I really enjoyed it. It’s rated TV-14 and probably would have been ok for my boys to watch, but I’m not sure they would enjoy it sense there wasn’t any shoot em up, high body count action going on.
2. Free Guy. I absolutely loved this movie. Super Rockstar and I did individual “fun nights” with our boys and it was my turn to do something with Morgan. We had both been looking forward to this movie and it did not disappoint. Great action, good story, and just fun to watch. It’s all about characters inside a video game and also cuts to the “real” world of the designers and players. It’s rated PG-13 (you can read the parent info here). There’s a lot of high intensity action and several uses of foul language (but not as much as I would have guessed for a Ryan Reynolds film). We loved it and I plan to go see it again–since Super Rockstar really wants to watch it too.
3. Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules. This is the second in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid movies and I really enjoyed it. The main character is now in 7th grade and it contains all of the angst between he and his older brother, relationships at school and his quest to be considered a cool kid. It’s rated PG, but like the first one, it has some older kid type situations that may not be appropriate for younger viewers (you can read the parent info here).
4. Kill Me Three Times. This is one we stumbled across and decided to watch because it has Simon Peg playing an assasin. It was very entertaining and had a lot of good twists and turns in the story. It’s rated R, so I don’t recommend for kids–it’s got a lot of foul language, adult situations and some nudity.
I would love to hear your opinions and any suggestions you may have of what to watch.
