We are a family that loves movies and TV shows. Each week I’ll share what we watched and what we thought about them. I hope it will give you good insight and even some ideas if you’re stuck finding something new.
1. Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days. This is the 3rd movie in the series and was every bit as funny as the first two. The characters have gotten a little older, but now instead of the school days angst–it’s all about the summer. There are so many funny, cringy moments that take you back to when life was all about not embarrassing yourself to death. We loved it. These movies are all rated PG and I really appreciate that there isn’t any foul language and are clean. There are some older type kid situations (boyfriend/girlfriend stuff), but other than that–I think they are appropriate for the whole family. (You can read the parent info here).
2. Unlocked. This was a really interesting and good movie. It’s about a CIA interrogator who is brought in to find out details about an impending biological terrorist attack, but she finds out that she was being used by another terrorist group that wants access to the biological bomb. There’s some great action and a lot of really good big name actors like Orlando Bloom, Michael Douglas and John Malkovich. It’s rated R–so definitely not one for the kiddos.
3. Nobody. This movie is SO good. It stars Bob Odenkirk (Better Call Saul and Breaking Bad) as a kind of boring guy– only you find out he has a pretty exciting past and has been dormant for too long. After a break in in his home–he kind of snaps and ends up gets tangled up with a local bad guy. It is a really good story with great action and intensity. We loved it. It’s rated R–so, nope for kids.
4. 24 Hours to Live. This was a good action flick with Ethan Hawke playing a CIA agent. He is killed in action, but then mysteriously resurrected. The catch? He only gets 24 hours. He uses his time to take down the bad guys and protect his family. I thought it was a pretty creative story and a lot of great action. It’s rated R and not appropriate for kids.
I would love to hear your opinions and any suggestions you may have of what to watch.
