We are a family that loves movies and TV shows. Each week I’ll share what we watched and what we thought about them. I hope it will give you good insight and even some ideas if you’re stuck finding something new.
1. Spider-man Far From Home. We finished our Spider-man binge watch and are now ready for the new one coming out in December. I really like Tom Holland as Spider-Man and that he plays a typical bumbly teenager that is so super excited about getting to be an Avenger. In this one, the bad guy is disguised as a super hero (played by Jake Gyllenhaal). It has really great action, cute teen romance, and is really fun to watch. It’s rated PG-13 and other than some of the images being scary for littles, it’s just fine for kids (you can read the parent guide here).
2. Only Murders in the Building. This is a new TV show on Hulu that I watched by myself. It has Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez as the main characters. I’ll be honest, when I saw the promotions for this show, I didn’t have real high hopes on if it would be any good. Steve Martin and Martin Short tend to be a bit “schticky”, but, I was pleasantly surprised. I really enjoyed this whole first season. It’s about 3 strangers who all live in the same apartment building. They discover they all have a passion for crime podcasts and when a murder happens in their own building, they band together to solve the mystery of the murder as well as begin their own crime podcast. It’s delightful, funny, a good mystery and there are several notable actors that make appearances throughout the series. I highly recommend it.
3. Ghostbusters 2016. The boys have been enjoying their own binge watch of the Ghostbusters movies and I joined them for the last one. It’s a remake of original movie, only it’s an all female team of Ghostbusters. I didn’t really care for this one at all. I think the actresses all tried too hard to be like the original, the story felt disjointed and the humor is a little too crude with an overuse of foul language. The best part is Chris Hemsworth –he plays their receptionist named Kevin. It’s rated PG-13, but it has a lot of scary images that my boys found disturbing. I don’t recommend for younger kids at all (you can read the parent info here).
I would love to hear your opinions and any suggestions you may have of what to watch.
