We are a family that loves movies and TV shows. Each week I’ll share what we watched and what we thought about them. I hope it will give you good insight and even some ideas if you’re stuck finding something new.
1. Spider-Man: No Way Home. This has been one we have been anxious to see and it did not disappoint. I absolutely loved the bringing back all Spider-Man characters (and even a few villains) from the older series. It has great action, a good story and it was really well done. It’s rated PG-13–there’s some foul language and intense action scenes (you can read the parent guide here).
2. Klaus. This is an animated movie that you can only find on Netflix. We saw it a couple of years ago and decided to re-watch it this year. It’s really a great story about a wealthy post master’s son who is spoiled an unwilling to grow up and be responsible. His dad sends him to a remote island with the task of getting 6000 letters from the locals or else he will be cut off. It develops into a Santa origin story that is just wonderful. It’s rated PG and I highly recommend it (you can read the parent guide here).
3. Scrooged. This is one of my favorite Christmas movies that I try to watch every year. It’s a modern day take on The Christmas Carol–with Bill Murray as the Ebeneezer Scrooge character. I absolutely love it. It’s rated PG-13, but I won’t let my boys watch it–it has way too many adult type situations and humor (you can read the parent guide here).
4. The Christmas Chronicles. This is another Netflix only Christmas movie. It has Kurt Russell playing Santa Claus and is absolutely wonderful. It’s rated PG and just fine for kids (and adults) of all ages (you can read the parent guide here).
5. The Christmas Chronicles: Part 2. In this one, Mrs. Claus (played by Goldie Hawn) has a larger role–she is introduced at the very end of the first one. Critics didn’t care for this one at all, but I thought it was ok. I liked the first one better–but this one is still good. It’s rated PG and enjoyable for all ages (you can read the parent guide here).
6. Jingle All the Way. This is a must-see Christmas movie–right up there with Christmas Vacation, Home Alone and the Santa Claus movies. It’s one of our all-time favorites with Arnold Schwarzenegger as a dad stuck out shopping the day before Christmas because he forgot to get his son the toy he wanted the most–an action figure named Turbo man. It is a fun adventure with several big-name actors and just a great story. It’s rated PG and great for the whole family (you can read the parent guide here).
I would love to hear our opinions and any suggestions you may have of what to watch.
