We are a family that loves movies and TV shows. Each week I’ll share what we watched and what we thought about them. I hope it will give you good insight and even some ideas if you’re stuck finding something new.
1. Johnny English Reborn and Johnny English Strikes Again. These are fantastic and are great for the whole family. If you are looking for silly, laugh out loud comedies–this series of movies are perfect. The plot lines are about the same–there is some sort of crisis, no other British agent is available, they are forced to send in Johnny English, and he bumbles and fumbles his way to accidental success. They are rated PG, but just keep in mind there is some foul language, a lot of potty humor and sometimes can be a bit crude. It might be lost on young kids, but older ones will think it’s hysterical (you can read the parent info here and here).
2. Poldark. Super Rockstar and I finished our Poldark binge watch. It is really a good series and I highly recommend it. It’s all about a man who returns home to Cornwall England after fighting in the American Revolutionary War. He finds that his father has died, his family home is in ruins and his true love is engaged to another. The whole series is about his ventures in rebuilding his life. It sometimes had a kind of soap opera-ish feel–someone dies, or is imprisoned or is in great peril in each episode. But, they reward the viewer by the “villains” being defeated often enough to keep you coming back for more. There are 5 seasons total and we loved it all.
3. Gulliver’s Travels. We watched this as a family movie this week. It’s from 2010 and I don’t know how it took us so long to discover this one. It’s wonderful! Jack Black plays Gulliver and is everything you love about him in movies. It’s a great modern day adaptation of the story and we all enjoyed it.
I would love to hear your opinions and any suggestions you may have of what to watch.
