It’s hard to believe that a whole month of our summer break is already over. We got to enjoy so many fun things this month.
1. Camping at Mueller. Mueller Campground is one of our favorite spots and what makes it even better is that it is only about a 90-minute drive from our house. We had near perfect weather–only a couple of rain showers (that hit perfectly during nap time) and we got to enjoy fishing, hiking, and eating some delicious meals. The only negative was that there was a fire ban in place–so no campfires. We tried to make s’mores on the camp stove, but it just wasn’t the same. Little did we know that this would be our last venture in our pop-up camper. Our boys prefer tent camping, so it was just Super Rockstar and I sleeping inside it. They only joined us for watching movies, etc. So, shortly after we got home, we listed it online and it sold within 24 hours. Kind of sad to see it go–we had a lot of good adventures with it.

2. Our Swimming Pool. We have an above ground pool that we enjoy every summer from June 1st til August 31st. The only problem is that our summer weather doesn’t usually show up until about halfway through June. But, as soon as the hot weather hits–we enjoy it every day.

3. Summer Football. Grayson will be playing his last season of high school football this fall (sob!). His team has already started their summer training with several grass drill days and 7 v 7 games (games played with only 7 players on each team and they wear helmets but no pads). He is loving every second of it. I could do without the 90-degree heat while watching the games, but it’s still a lot of fun to watch and he’s having a blast.

4. Father’s Day. Super Rockstar enjoyed a nice low-key Father’s Day. We went to church, grilled some steaks and enjoyed watching a movie. Perfect. He always enjoys the cards we all make him and I honestly don’t think there’s much Super Rockstar enjoys more in this life than getting to be a Daddy to our two beautiful boys.

5. A Denver Getaway.
Harry Potter: The Exhibition. We always try to get up to Denver each summer to stay at a hotel and enjoy some of their museums, zoo, etc. This year, Grayson’s girlfriend and her family had found out about a Harry Potter exhibit going on, so we decided to meet up with them to explore it. It was a really cool exhibit with a lot of great interactive things to do.

Water World. We enjoyed a one-night stay in a hotel (Drury Plaza Hotel –a favorite of ours) and then spent the entire rest of the day at Water World. It’s a fantastic water park in Denver with awesome slides, raft rides and a giant wave pool. We enjoyed a hot sunny day and the cold water felt so great.
6. Books I read. I finished another Sue Graffton–Q is for Quarry. I liked that this one was based off a real case that the author had learned about from a friend. It revolves around a murdered Jane Doe in 1969. This book is a fictional retelling of what might have really happened to her, who she was and who murdered her. The author used details from the actual case in hopes that one day someone reading it might be able to identify the victim.

7. Movies and Shows to Watch–Episode 113. Just click the link to read about all we watched in June.
