March was a full month of a lot of new to us shows and some re-watching of some old favorite movies, and even letting the boys watch a movie series they’ve been begging to for years.
1. Young Sherlock. If it’s Sherlock Holmes, I’m in. This is a fantastic new TV series that Super Rockstar and I absolutely loved. I won’t spoil the story line, but it’s a very creative spin on the beginnings of Sherlock and has some great casting for all the characters. There are 8 episodes in this season streaming on Prime. Rated TV-14.

2. Memory of a Killer. This is a creative new show streaming on Hulu. It stars Patrick Dempsey playing Angelo–a man who leads a double life. He’s a ruthless hitman living in New York City and he’s also a loving father–soon to be grandfather living in a small town. No one in either of his lives knows the other exists, until he starts developing dementia. His worlds start colliding when he is being hunted by an unknown enemy. With his memory problems, he starts struggling to keep the worlds separated. We really enjoyed it–lots of good drama and tension. There are 10 episodes in this first season. Rated TV-14.

3. Frozen. Most Friday nights, Morgan is working–leaving Super Rockstar, Grayson and I to find a movie that we know he wouldn’t mind not seeing. I hadn’t seen this movie in years and years. I so love Olaf and yes, I sang every song out loud. Rated PG.

4. Hercules. I don’t know how we missed this gem from 2014, but Dwayne Johnson (The Rock) did a great job playing Hercules. We all really liked it and even Morgan was sorry he missed getting to see it (he was working). Rated PG-13.

5. Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale. Super Rockstar and I are big Downton Abbey fans and had not seen this final movie. We loved it. I love all the characters, and I think this is a nice ending to the story I have loved so much. Rated PG.

6. Monarch: Legacy of Monsters–Season 1. This is a new TV series streaming on Apple (it was free on Prime, but about halfway through the first season, we saw that things had changed–I hate this about TV apps). It’s an interesting spin on the Godzilla, Kong, and all the other “Titan” monsters tale. It’s about the organization, Monarch, that formed to research the “Titans” and centers around 3 individuals who founded it in the 1950’s trying to not only prove the existence of the monsters, but to also study them. The story bounces back and forth between then and a more present time (2015) where the monsters are known to exist and the research the three from the 1950’s did is instrumental for the modern day scientists as they try to learn how to prevent attacks. It gets a little heady keeping track of all that’s going on. The best part is that Kirk Russel plays the older version of his character and his real-life son plays the younger version. They look so much alike. We just finished the first season. Overall, I thinks it’s pretty good. There are 10 episodes in season 1 streaming on Apple TV. Rated TV-14.

7. Harry Potter Movies. (Sorcerer’s Stone, Chamber of Secrets, Prisoner of Azkaban, Goblet of Fire, Order of the Phoenix, Half Blood Prince). Super Rockstar was out of town for a week, so the boys and I decided to re-watch all the Harry Potters. I love these movies so much. I’m really having a hard time with the re-do TV series that’s coming out soon. I’m not sure I want to watch it, because in my mind–the casting of characters for these movies was perfect to the books in every way. We didn’t quite finish all the movies but probably will soon. Rated PG-13.

8. John Wick Movies. (John Wick, John Wick: Chapter 2, John Wick: Chapter 3–Parabellum, John Wick: Chapter 4)Morgan has been begging to see the John Wick movies for years. We told him he had to wait until he was 18, but when he turned 18 a year ago, he decided he wanted to wait until he could see them with his brother. Grayson turned 17 this month and yes, we bent our “wait until 18” rule for him because he’s the baby and that’s the benefit of being the 2nd born. Also, they aren’t any worse than the Jurassic World movies (see Episode 109 for the explanation). That being said, we watched all 4 and they absolutely loved them. Rated R.

We’re already enjoying building a great list of movies and shows for April. I can’t wait to tell you all about it. In the meantime, please keep me posted on what you’re watching as I always am looking for fresh inspiration.
